| Question; Why is there always a lump of hair on my dogs hip when brushing down? Is it a skin problem? Elaine Answers; Avoid skin situations. Brushing/combing down to that area thickens undercoat & becomes a mass of matting. I suggest brushing from the rear of the dog/cat from above hocks w/short strokes working up to get the matting out & work your way up the back. Then brush back down. You will then find it an easier job to fully brush all the way down with out problems or hurting the pet by pulling as w/out preparing as above. They are then much happier. And they will show it. Yes, Not brushing properly can create skin problems. Any Question? Ask Elaine |
